You know, as well as I do, that the Porsche 918 Spyder is one seriously fast car. With it’s combination of all-wheel drive, a hybrid-assisted screaming V8 engine and Porsche’s absurdly quick PDK gearbox, it’s no surprise that the car can out-accelerate just about anything on the road. Less known is how consistently fast that setup is, with the PDK offering perfect launches every time, the 918 is a very competent drag racer.
Although, we like to imagine the 918 is more at home ripping around the race track, it is every bit as adept at bracket racing, the art of knocking out consistent elapsed times down the quarter mile. The proof is in the pudding with this 918 Spyder consistently running 10.1’s at 142mph all day down the strip. To run low 10 second passes so consistently in a stock car is a testament to Porsche engineering.
