Porsche 991.2 GT3 RS Gets One Year Review on Nürburgring
After logging many track miles on this Porsche GT3 RS, one owner gives us his incredibly in depth take on the car.
There’s no denying the fact that the latest iteration of the Porsche 911 GT3 RS is an amazing car. One that focuses on reducing weight and using advanced chassis voodoo to create the perfect track toy. And while many other cars of this ilk rely on mega power to achieve speed, the Porsche formula makes due with “just” 520 horsepower. The 991.2 GT3 RS has also left everyone who’s reviewed it largely floored.
But this particular review from YouTuber //. is a bit different than all the rest. You see, he just wrapped up one year of ownership, and has wrung out his Porsche on the legendary Nürburgring many times over that period. Heck, the car reportedly hasn’t even seen many actual road miles. Thus, we were very interested to see how it’s held up. And this video certainly doesn’t disappoint in that regard.
Our host first goes over many of the fascinating features that make the 991.2 GT3 RS such a formidable track machine. Things like the various ducts and openings that aid both downforce and cooling. And he points out that few cars can do so much for so little.

“That’s what I love about Porsche,” he says. “They are so close to their Motorsports program with their road cars. And if you think about it, Porsche is really your best bang for your buck because they’re actually the cheapest and fastest cars that you can buy to go driving on the track. This is one of the top GT models in the range and it’s around $200,000 Euros. If you want to do this with a Ferrari 488 Pista, you’re looking at $400,000-$500,000 Euros. And the McLaren 600LT isn’t as fast but it costs more.”
Our host does note that he nearly crashed his Porsche on his first visit to the Nürburgring. But that’s because he wasn’t used to driving a rear-engine car. “After a while, I got used to it and realized I couldn’t brake as late. You have to go really gently into the corner, but then you can really accelerate fast coming out of it.”
He even admits to preferring his old GT4 at first. But after a little wheel time and a switch to Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, that quickly changed. He’s also managed to get his lap time down in the 7:11 range in traffic, which is pretty impressive, even though he’s confident it’s really a sub-7 car. Almost as impressive as this incredibly in depth review!
