Porsche 991 GT3 Spotted on the Nurburgring

Nurburgring photographers caught Porsche’s latest GT3 running around the track earlier this week. From the barely-there camouflage we can see that it looks… well, pretty much like a regular 991 with a big wing. The other standout difference are the vents on the front bumper. That it looks pretty much the same isn’t that important. What is important (and what we don’t know yet) is what Porsche has done to make the GT3 different.
We expect the 991 GT3 will follow in the footsteps of GT3’s past. That means rear wheel drive, naturally aspirated, track focused goodness. It’ll be lighter than the Carrera, of course, and will probably be powered by the 3.8L flat-six found in the current GT3 RS. What we don’t know, is whether the GT3 will be available with a manual gearbox or a dual clutch unit. Time will tell.
We’ll probably be seeing the revamped 991 TT before the GT3 shows up anyway. In fact, it’s already been spotted running around in the good old US of A.
