TRAFFIC REPORT Fire Breathing Lambo, Porsche Macan Diesel & Big Bucks for Ferrari
Flame on! Check out this teaser video from Armytrix for their new, super loud titanium exhaust for the Lamborghini Aventador. It’s billed as a test run before the SEMA show in Las Vegas, Nevada next month.
The Aventador and flames look and sound pretty sick. Watch the video above, crank up your speakers and enjoy the fireworks.
Porsche Macan Diesel Coming to the U.S.
For some reason unbeknownst to most of the car enthusiast world, manufacturers refuse to bring over their diesel engines from Europe. We love them, we clamor for them, and it all just seems to fall on deaf ears? But that all might be about to change.
With stricter fuel economy standards, and needing to comply with global markets, it seems Porsche is leading the charge to bring over a diesel offering. No it isn’t in a 911, but rather it’s in Porsche’s newest car, the Macan.
According to Andre Oosthuizen, Porsche’s North American Vice President, he stated that the company would be bringing over its V6 diesel for the Macan. He didn’t go into specifics about when we would likely see the Macan diesel, only stating that it would be after the Macan S and Turbo.
He did state that the diesel they would be bringing over would have around 245 hp which puts it into the realm of VAG’s 3.0 V6 diesel that’s in the Audi Q5 as well as a few other cars in the company’s lineup.
Porsche has done pretty well at converting a few people with their diesels in the Cayenne, but by putting the diesel in a car that’s destined to be more mass market friendly, Porsche definitely seems to be trying to get everyone to embrace the idea of a diesel.
Big Bucks for Ferrari
How much do you have to spend for the first Ferrari 458 Speciale A? A butt load, that’s how much.
While the normal Ferrari 458 sells for around $250,000, the first 458 Speciale Aperta sold recently in Beverly Hills for a whopping $900,000! It was sold live during Ferrari’s 60th anniversary celebration of sales in the United States, which coincided with the North American debut of the 458 Special Aperta and the launch of the F60 America.
A total of 1000+ Ferrari’s showed up to the event and pretty much closed down all of Beverly Hills. While the lucky bidder went home with the now very collectable vin #1/499, the proceeds of the auction went to a much more deserving home with the American Chapter of Daybreak. Daybreak is an organization that helps fund research into rare genetic diseases.
Also on hand that night was outgoing CEO Luca di Montezemolo to bid farewell to his company and the owners. Luca was forcibly removed after a spat with current Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne due to a difference of opinion on where to take Ferrari in the future.
