Porsche Cayman GTS vs. BMW M2: Which Would You Buy?
This is entirely a first world problem, but let’s say you’re in the market for a fun little car. Do you spend your money on a slightly-used Porsche Cayman GTS or do you get on the waiting list for a new BMW M2? That’s a question that the folks at Everyday Driver set to answer in their latest comparison video.
It’s not an apples-to-apples comparison, considering the Cayman is equipped with Porsche’s PDK automatic and the M2 is a manual, but they are more similar than one might think. While a new Cayman wouldn’t be cross-shopped with the much less expensive Bimmer, the one-year old GTS brings the price more in line for this segment.
Obviously different strokes for different folks, but each car seems to have its own unique advantage over the other car. The Cayman is a scalpel on the back roads, but loses the sense of occasion at slower speeds. The BMW, while a bit less-refined, appears to be more of a hoot when you’re just putting around town and not driving at 9/10ths.
The M2 is definitely my favorite BMW of right now. While it might just be a fluke, it’s a car that makes me think the folks at BMW haven’t lost their way.
