2013 Porsche Cayman Prototype Nears Completion in Spy Shots
Porsche is set to debut the finished Cayman at the Los Angeles Autoshow next year in November. It’s obviously not November yet, but this new batch of spy shots show us that the Cayman is already nearing completion. This shouldn’t be shocking though, considering that Porsche has pretty much finished the 2013 Boxster.
They’re both being built on a new platform that manages to be both larger and lighter than the current models. Most notably though, Boxster and likely the Cayman will be featuring a new electromechanical steering system. That same steering system is the most commonly criticized aspect of the new 911. Reviewers have been saying that it is “uncommunicative,” though precise. For the 911, that can be looked over thanks to it’s outrageous abilities in every other metric. For the Boxster and the Cayman though, they’re appeal is that they’re “drivers cars.” They might not be the fastest, but their overall driving characteristics are out of this world. Messing with the steering seems risky.
Either way we’ll see what the world thinks of both of these new Porsches come this fall.
