The Porsche Experience Center is Disneyland for Performance Enthusiasts
I remember my first time at Disneyland. The sense of wonder I felt was something that has gone unmatched ever since. It seems Disneyland is the product of someone who dropped an acid tablet, recalled their childhood, and built a theme park. I’m not saying Walt Disney did that, but he was a little different, wasn’t he?
Twenty-three years after my first Disneyland visit, I hate the thought of the place. It’s too “foo foo” for me. If you crave a season pass to Disneyland, you’re either a child or a high-maintenance girlfriend.
So what’s on offer for people who want the theme-park thrill without the theme park? The Porsche Experience Centers. In the Edmunds video below, Alistair Weaver gives you an all-access tour of the Porsche Experience Center at Silverstone, England, but soon you won’t have to travel as far to reach a Porsche Experience Center.
In late 2014 there will be a Porsche Experience Center opening in L.A., followed by an Atlanta center opening early in 2015. Both are under construction, and they are being modeled after Silverstone. The Porsche Experience Center in L.A. will be 100 percent larger than the Silverstone facility, while the Atlanta center will offer more off-road real estate.
If you live in the Atlanta or L.A. areas, get a preview of what’s being built in your back yard in the video below.
