Porsche is Pronounced “Por-sheh.”
As in “Danke für den Porsche.”
This is an argument that has been the source of confusion since Porsche has had a presence in the US. The company is named after Ferindand Porsche. As such, it is pronounced with an unaccented e. There is no “silent e” in German.
That’s two syllables. Por-sheh, Porsch-eh, you can even get away with Porsch-uh.
We don’t advise bringing this up with at parties unless you want to sound like a complete douche. The fact of the matter is that pronouncing Porsche as “Porsh” is something of an Americanism. It’s not that it makes that much a difference anyway; it’s not as though people aren’t going to know what you’re talking about. But, if you absolutely, need to be technically correct… Now you know.
