Do you want your ‘T’ as a unique sporty comfort experience, or a stripped down driver-focused lightweight? It’s your choice.

Porsche has launched another new 911 variant, and this time it’s meant to evoke a sense of what the 911 used to be ‘back in the day’. The 911 Carrera T stat sheet looks a bit like a mix between a GT3 Touring and a Carrera GTS, but with the standard Carrera’s 3.0-liter turbocharged engine producing just 370 horsepower. It’s got the traditional Porsche lightweight features, including a rear seat delete, radio delete, door pulls instead of handles, and thinner lightweight rear window glass. Throw in a set of cloth-center sport seats, and you’ve got all of the trappings of a traditional Porsche driving experience. The configurator is now live, so how would you build yours?

If you want a serious driver’s car, you can keep the option sheet limited and keep the car lightweight. The manual transmission with a shorter set of gear ratios is obviously the way to go here. A no-cost color like Guards Red lets people know you’re serious about performance driving, and deleting the side script gives the car a clean look to go with the grey side mirrors and grey wheels. You’ll have to decide between the standard sport seats and the ultra-light carbon “full bucket” option. It’s an expensive option, but considering the lack of rear seat, we might opt for the carbon jobs.

If comfort and exciting options are more your bag, you can get the 911 Carrera T with the Premium Package Plus interior, featuring 18-way adjustable heated and ventilated sport seats, LED lighting, and auto-dimming mirrors. You can option the full-thickness glass back in, the PCM back in with Burmeister hi-fi audio, and the rear seats un-deleted. You can choose a PDK transmission or carbon ceramic brakes. Additionally, you can even opt for rear-wheel steering, which is not even an available option on the standard Carrera. Do you want illuminated door sills, because you can option those, too!

The Carrera T starts just $11,000 more than a base Carrera, and when you consider the standard equipment you gain with this model, it’s well worth the cost. This is a unique model, and it might just be the right 911 for your garage.
