Porsche M9X Engine Assembly Videos Make Rebuilds Easy
Step-by-step video series, torque spec books, and specialty tool rentals make assembling a Porsche engine a snap.
Rebuilding an engine is obviously a daunting task. One that few actually attempt themselves. But just like anything else in life, we humans can obviously learn to complete this job with a little help. And if you’re the owner of an M9X engine-equipped Porsche, you’ve got a fantastic new tool to teach you how to do just that. It’s called Focus On: M9X Engine Assembly, a 15-part, 20-hour DVD series that covers the engine assembly process from spare parts to a completely finished long block.
This incredibly detailed and highly education tool comes to us from Jake Raby, Charles Navarro, and Tony Callas, all experienced Porsche experts and members of our brother site, Rennlist. Raby is the inventor and developer of IMS Retrofit and IMS Solution. He is also the founder and owner of Flat 6 Innovations. Along with Raby Engine Development, Raby Aircooled Technology, and The Knowledge Gruppe. Navarro is the owner and operator of LN Engineering, and Callas is a former racer who know runs the highly respected Callas Rennsport.
The trio brought together their decades of experience working on these cars to develop a video series so detailed that they claim even a novice can complete this assembly process. They formerly held educational classes teaching these techniques, which proved to be highly effective. Now, those same teaching principles have gone into making a series of videos covering the entire, step-by-step process on how to assemble a 3 or 5 chain M9X Porsche engine.
The beauty of video is that you can pause it as you go, complete each step, then move on. Or just rewind it in case you need to see it again. But the DVD set is just one of the many useful tools this trio has for Porsche owners. Raby has also published torque spec books for the Porsche 996 and 997, which are extremely comprehensive. And since you’ll need some special tools to complete the job, LN Engineering has expanded their rental program as well. Now it includes things like the Faultless Wrist Pin Tool Kit, Faultless Supplemental Engine Assembly Tool Kit, and Rear Main Seal Tool.
Using these handy tools, anyone can rebuild their own Porsche M9X series engine. So head over here to pick up your copy of the new DVD series, here for a 996 torque spec book, or here for the 997 version. While you’re bundling those together, you’ll also be able to tack on any tool rentals you might need. And before you know it, you’ll be bragging to your friends about how your rebuilt your own engine!
