The Cayenne is about to get a little brother, the Macan, which will be bowing in production form at the LA Auto Show this November. The LA Auto Show debut isn’t too surprising considering that this is one of Porsche’s most important markets. The car will hit showrooms in Spring 2014, reports Auto Express.

The new baby-ute will make extensive use of aluminum bringing its curb weight down roughly 285 lbs from the Audi Q5 on which it’s based. Additionally, engines for the Macan will be sourced from Audi, but should be retuned bumping up horsepower and torque. Whether or not the US sees a diesel powerplant remains to be seen. But it seems that a hybrid powertrain will be offered.

The Macan is clearly going to be a four-door, but swirling rumors betray that a two-door Evoque-fighter may be in development. Expect the Macan to be priced close to $42,000 when it goes on sale. Thoughts?
