It’s a turbocharged world as we know it. News out of Stuttgart seem to point in a 600 horsepower twin-turbocharged direction for the new 4.0 liter 8 cylinder engine that is rumored to be installed in the new generation Porsche Panamera sport sedan.

According to Porsche officials, this power plant developed by the Volkswagen group could be key to an even more profitable future, as it will be swapped between various models, and even have bolt on features to make it more versatile. Tuning its operating RMP range, adding a hybrid batter pack, cylinder deactivation and turbo management seem to be just a handful of the things that Porsche could perform onto this block in order to utilize it across a wide range of vehicles.

As every manufacturer claims nowadays, Porsche says that this 600 horsepower turbo setup, combined with cylinder deactivation promises 30% less fuel-consumption when paired to the new-generation 8-speed automatic transmission (DCT).

This engine hasn’t gone into production, but when it does, it will most likely be featured on the Porsche Panamera, Audi A6, A8, Q7, and Q8. As well as the Lamborghini Urus, and lastly, the Bentley Bentayga and Continental.
