Porsche Takes 992 Turbo, Turbo S Out for a Date on the Nurburgring

By -

Spend the next 10 minutes enjoying the sounds of Porsche’s turbocharged 992 911s flexing their guns amid a few camo’d rides.

Only a few months ago, Porsche delivered the 992 era of its iconic 911 to the world’s stage at its Experience Center in Los Angeles. Since then, the 992 911 has been making inroads into many a garage in Carrera and Carrera S hardtop and cabrio forms, each packed with a 3.0-liter twin-turbo flat-six and a refreshed PDK dual-clutch with a new eighth gear upon its wider frame.

Of course, that only means it won’t be long until the 992 amps up the power in Turbo and Turbo S form. Luckily for us, YouTuber Jeroen Mutsaarts (a.k.a, Carspotter Jeroen) was at the Nurburgring to capture both variants swinging their weight around the corners during a day of testing with a few friends and rivals.

According to Mutsaarts, the 992 Turbo packs 580 horses in the back, while the 992 Turbo S has 620 ponies with their horse tacks attached. Both take on the old town ‘Ring with a sound and fury unlike any other car, going wide around some of the graffitied corners and throwing up dust upon themselves and out the back.

Eventually, we see a black Panamera having a little fun with the 992 Turbo duo on the Nurburgring while likely doing some testing of its own. It wouldn’t be long though before one of Porsche’s rivals caught up with one of the 992s, in the form of a camo’d BMW X6. And by caught up, we mean the X6 was a couple of car lengths behind the lightly camo’d 911.

At one point during the day of testing, Mutsaarts decided to see what ‘Ring times the 992 Turbo and Turbo S were putting down, focusing on one of the duo at a specific corner where he was stationed. Nearly eight minutes later, the black 911 returned. That time is significantly longer than the 992 Carrera S, which laid-down a time of 7:25 earlier this year, according to our friends at Motor Authority. The drivers were likely focused on sorting everything out, though, saving the big dance for another day.

After a long day on the ‘Ring, the 992 Turbo and Turbo S headed back home to relax while their drivers organized the data obtained. We can’t wait to see the duo out on the street for real.
