Porsche 911 Rooftop Tent

You can finally glamp in ultimate luxury with Porsche’s official rooftop tent.

Obviously inspired by Brock Keen‘s lovable 996 and Harrison Schoen‘s Cayenne 957 with a rooftop tent setup and the many adventures that follow suit, Porsche will make rooftop tents available for public purchase starting November of this year. Though, according to Porsche’s webpage for the upcoming tent, it will also be suitable for the Taycan Sport Turismo, Taycan Cross Turismo, and Taycan Sport Limousine. Sensibly, it will also be available for the Macan and Cayenne SUVs.

Weighing in at 127.8 pounds, it’s on the lower end of the typical weight of rooftop tents, even with the hard-shell exterior. The tent can be outfitted with the anti-theft system, just in case any cryptids decide they’re fancying a designer tent. Porsche, though, went the extra mile and design it for all-weather camping. In case of rain, the zippers will be waterproof, accompanied by what Porsche calls a “rain cover.” For star gazing sans the creepy crawlies, there’s a mesh screen on the roof and both sides of the tent.

To top the experience off, the mattress on the inside is made of a high-density polyfoam material. It can later be paired with a thermal inner tent to make chilly nights a little toastier. A thermal blanket is also on the menu, as well as shoe and cargo storage. The max load while stationary for the Taycan, 911, Cayenne and Macan models is an impressive 418 pounds. The Taycan Limousine and Cayenne Coupe have a lower stationary max weight of 308 pounds.

While you may want to be in the high revs to buy one of these once they’re available, Porsche recommends a docile top speed of 85 mph once equipped. US pricing isn’t avaliable, but it’s sure to be a pretty penny since it will go for  €4,980 ($4,995 USD).
