Porsche Boxster And Cayman Add GTS Model To Lineup
Porsche’s GTS models are usually the sweet spot of the lineup, so is this the best 718 you can buy?
Since the 718 Boxster and Cayman were launched last year we’ve commended Porsche for their ability to continue objectively improving their cars. With the GTS model finally added to the 718 lineup, we’ve got a new favorite in the current mid-engine Porsche stack. The GTS model adds an extra 15 horsepower for 365 total. Additionally, it gets a bunch of alcantara, model-specific blacked out trim, and a whole host of standard equipment. Even better, this car remains available with both a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed PDK, if that’s your thing.
Compared to anything else in its competitive set, the 718 is far and away the best car in class, providing excellent driving dynamics and stellar performance for the money. Improving on that formula with a little more power, a little more comfort and a little more style, the GTS is the best version of the 718 formula, for now. Starting in the $80,000 range, the GTS is a bit of a jump over the 718 ‘S’ models, but with standard Sport Chrono, Torque Vectoring, mechanical rear locking diff, and PASM that price is actually far less than it would cost to option out a similar spec ‘S’. The 981-generation Cayman and Boxster GTS still rank among our top-ten Porsche models of all time, so we are optimistic about this one as well.

718 GTS models are available to order right now, and you can expect European deliveries to begin just before Christmas, US customers will have to wait a few months until March of 2018. Cayman GTS pricing will start at $79,800, while a Boxster GTS will run you $81,900.
It’s still a crying shame about that exhaust note, though.
