Awesome 1,000 HP out of a stroked VR38 with a little nitrous helps this pro S15 drift car party.

There are a couple of cars that still remain on the stateside blacklist that enthusiasts have been dreaming of owning since their release. Due to the 25 year import law, certain vehicles are not allowed in the country if they were not legally sold here. As the years have gone by, we have received more access to certain vehicles such as the R32 and R33 Nissan Skyline GT-Rs. However, the two most iconic and desirable Nissan models are still not technically legal in the U.S. These are the R34 Skyline and the S15 Silvia.

Both of these cars are the stuff of dreams for generations of automotive fans, inspiring us through films, video games, and constant nostalgia. However, we will have to wait until 2024 to be able to own an S15 stateside. Until then, we will wait. However, that doesn’t mean that people don’t have them here. This is seemingly especially easy if you’re a Japanese race team, since the car will never see any time on the street itself and is simply for competition and racing use only. This isn’t just any stock S15 though, this pro drift car has more than one trick up its sleeve. Thanks to Hoonigan on YouTube, we get to learn a little more about the car.

S15 Pro Drift Car

This S15 Silvia is owned by Kazuya Taguchi, current Formula Drift Pro driver and this is his competition car. It features a VR38 out of a R35 GTR, which has been stroked out to 4.1 liters thanks to a Tomei stroker kit. It uses a stock frame turbo and manifold, but with the help of nitrous currently makes around 1000 HP. Before this setup was actually being run in a R35 GTR, but Taguchi stated he didn’t feel as comfortable in the R35 and prefers the feel of the Silvia. In addition to that, the Silvia has a lot more support for drifting than a R35.

Thanks to the titanium turn downs straight at the turbo, this thing sounds so aggressively ear-shattering, we aren’t sure we would be able to hear right if we were there in person. Obviously, the man is a pro drifter, so he destroyed the Hoonigan Burnyard with ease until the car caught on fire. If you’re going to watch any part of that video, the last couple minutes is definitely where it’s at.
