Raging Bulls: Lamborghini Aventador vs Countach
Compared to the Countach, the Aventador is a veritable tank. It weighs 3500lbs to the LP 400’s 2,300lbs. It’s also got safety technology and traction control and crumple zones and all kinds of electronic nannies. Call it Audi’s influence, but the Aventador is definitely a more muted experience than the Murcielago or even the Gallardo. It’s still one of the fastest cars ever built, but I’m not sure if I’d want it over the old school thrill of the Countach.
This short video teaser puts the two side by side as they cruise the through the streets of Saint Agatha. I’m torn. The Aventador is a better car in almost every metric… But the Countach has an x-factor. It’s carbureted. It’s old. It’s loud. It’s horrifically impractical for almost any situation. You might call those things “flaws.” I call it “personality.”
