Rare Porsche 959 Prototype Is Quite Alluring

One of the only 12 F-Series Porsche 959 prototypes went up for sale in Germany for the price of $1.3 million (€1,170,000).

The Porsche 959 is an automotive icon, which is why it is not surprising that this F40 rival is also one of the most sought-after hypercars in the world. Recently, a rare Porsche 959 prototype went on sale. The car gets a €1,170,000 price tag, which roughly translates to a bit over $1.3 million. This burgundy beauty is a sight to behold. The car is currently listed for sale on the British motoring forum- PistonHeads.

This particular model is one of the only 12 F-Series 959 prototypes that Porsche ever built, which makes it even more special. This car is the seventh of its kind and one of the only two burgundy examples in existence. Unlike many other prototypes, this gorgeous 959 prototype survived the rigorous testing that the Stuttgart-based automaker put it through.

There is more to this ultra-rare Porsche 959. The other burgundy prototype was called F2, and let’s just say, this F7 model is the better-looking sibling. The F2’s design was kind of odd, as the car had no air intakes on the rear arches. This F7 model, on the other hand, sports more conventional 959 styling.

The car’s electrical systems were thoroughly tested in Europe and the West Coast, where Porsche also hot-weather tested this 959 prototype. Porsche aimed to test a myriad of systems. After its evaluation, this gorgeous hypercar was shipped back to Stuttgart. Here it was retrimmed, rebuilt, and was fitted once more. Safe to say, the car’s interior received quite a substantial overhaul.

Porsche dealer- Vasek Polak- bought the F7 959 from Porsche, along with the F6 and F9 prototypes. However, Porsche sold the car under certain conditions. Once sold, the hypercar could not be sold again, registered for road use, or raced unless it received a complete factory refurbishment.

As a result of this, the F7 959 sonly has 18K miles on the odometer. The car was mostly used for display purposes. The burgundy beauty has been fully restored and registered. This Porsche 959 prototype is currently located in Germany and is awaiting a lucky new owner.
