Rats Chomp into Brand New Aston Martin Vantage Roadster
Imagine opening the hood of your brand new V8 Vantage and being greeted by… Rat poop. That, is the unfortunate story of Australian liquidator Ian Lock, who claims that rats chewed through his engine harness while under the care of a Quantas airport valet.

Lock claims that the damage to the engine harness happened while the car was left with Quantas overnight. That seem’s a little unlikely, but honestly, stranger things have happened. Even a local magistrate stated that the rats would’ve been “very aggressive” to do the damage they’d have done in a single night. Qantas also says that they hired a pest control expert to investigate the area where the car was parked, and found no evidence of rat infestation.

It’s worth noting Lock had only bought the car two weeks earlier from the dealership. According to Adelaide Now, the dealership told him “there was damage to the wiring ‘in an inaccessible place’ and ‘there were rat droppings behind the engine’.” It’s completely possible that rats decided to dine on his Aston in the two weeks since he bought, or possibly even before he bought.

The total cost for him to fix his harness was around $9,000. That figure is dwarfed by the $300,000 he paid for the brand new car in the first place. He’s suing Qantas for damages and court fees, but something tells me his attention would be better spent at the dealership.
