Renault’s Newest Alpine is a Straight Up Vision

If only automakers would actually build the concept cars they come up with for the Grand Turismo Vision design study, the world would be a much better place.

Seriously, automakers need to start actually building cool concepts and putting them into production. Even if it’s a very small scale production it should be done. The best example so far is this, the Renault Alpine.

The car is powered by a 4.5L V8 engine that revs to 7,500rpm and makes a wonderful 450 horsepower. And while 450 horses don’t sound like all that much for a 4.5L to be pushing out, it’s more than enough since the curb weight of the car is just 1,984 lbs. That means it would be extremely fast in any situation. It’s a full on racer that has no need for the laws of physics.

It just looks staggering in its simplicity. Single seated open top racer that definitely harkens back to the past, but definitely looks forward to the future as well. Also it has two air brakes that pop out of the sides!

This Alpine is definitely the coolest one so far.
