An SLR McLaren Stirling Moss and a Mazda MX-5 Had an Imaginary Baby
It’s not exactly the most tidy or smoothest rendering, but an imaginary Mazda MX-5 Miata sans windshield popped up on Reddit this week. The inspiration for the creator comes from the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Stirling Moss open-top roadster, hence the double-hump design, as well. The result is an imaginary offspring of a universal $25,000, 155-horsepower fun-mobile and a hyper-elite $800,000, 650-horsepower luxury speedster.
This is actually extremely reminiscent of the 2009 MX-5 Superlight Concept that Mazda built celebrating 20 years of roadster. Thanks in part to the ability to remove all the things you don’t think about (door handles, locks, windshield, windows, side mirrors), this model was kept under 2,205 lbs (1,000 kg).
Unless you’re Mercedes-Benz, however, things like this don’t get made available to the public. And neither will the rendering of the 2016 Miata Moss.
