So Choice: Porsche 356s Paired With 16th Century Italian Villa
Car-Shooters tagline is “beautiful cars in fantastic places,” and yet again, the site has delivered on this promise.
For their most recent pictorial, Car-Shooters photographed members of the Registro Italiano Porsche 356 Club at Villa Varramista, a beautiful, late-Renaissance, Tuscan estate that was completed in 1589 by Bartolomeo Ammannati. If these goregeous walls could talk, they could spin you yarns about all the famous families that have stayed there, like the Piaggios and the Agnellis.
Of course, the Porsche 356 is steeped in its own rich history, albeit not quite as lengthy. Starting in 1948, the 356 is the model that first put Porsche on the map, and kept it firmly pinned there until 1965, well after the car’s replacement model, the 911, dropped in 1963.
Car-Shooters is the brainchild of two photographers from Florence who also happen to be engineers. Meaning, they like pretty pictures of well-made things. This definitely comes across in their photos, as you can see below. These selections are just a smattering from the pictorial, so do yourself a favor and check out the rest. There’s also a good bit of history about the Porsche 956 and its importance to the marque. The translation’s a bit… interesting, but you can understand it easily enough.
Heck, even if it weren’t translated, these guys are still speaking my language.
