SRT 300 Getting the Axe, But SRT Grand Cherokee is a Keeper
For those of you that like class with your speed, you are about to be about another choice in super sedan country, Chrysler will be killing the 300 SRT after this generation.
The sedan’s poor sales, and in my opinion, not enough room actually in the car have led the company to rethink the model and will not be bringing the name back.
The 300 SRT was always a weird hybrid super sedan. The front seats were definitely plushy, but the overall car just wasn’t up to snuff with the Germans. The build quality just wasn’t there, the mpg were terrible, and even the performance couldn’t match anywhere near Mercedes, Audi, or BMW.
What is interesting though is, while the car isn’t selling at all here in the States, its sales numbers in the Middle East and a few other countries, read Russia, are making the case for the car to live on specifically in those markets.
But all is not doom and gloom over at Chrysler and the SRT brand. What is doing extremely well is the SRT Grand Cherokee. It has pretty much the same motor, it’s just bigger and has AWD.
It is interesting to see how the landscape of cars has really changed in the last few years, and how SUVs and CUVs, even performance versions have taken over.
So we are getting rid of one SRT and keeping another, and more importantly, we are keeping the better of the two.
