Supercars are Little Snacks to the Rimac Concept One

Had racer and Youtuber Archie Hamilton put down a bet on a drag race between a Rimac Concept One and a Ferrari LaFerrari, he would have dropped 100 on Ri Ri. 10 seconds later, he would have watched another person take that money and put it into her or his pocket and walk away.

Good thing nobody actually asked him. He was lucky enough to witness and be part of two of the most ground-breaking drag races of the year. One is between the most disruptive sedan of the past 10 years and a supercar that could change the future of power, and the other is between that same supercar and one of the most technologically-advanced production cars ever built.

I’m talking about the Tesla Model S P90D in Ludicrous Mode racing a Rimac Concept One, and the Concept One running it back against the Ferrari LaFerrari. Quick refresh about the Croation-born super-advanced Rimac: It uses four individual motors for each wheel, and each has its own transmission, as well. Its insanely advanced power system creates 1,088 horsepower, 1,180 lb-ft of torque. And all of those Newton Meters are available instantly.

That’s exactly like the all-electric Tesla. In its Ludicrous Mode, the S is capable of 0-60 in 2.8 seconds. And yet, the Rimac absolutely crushes the Tesla. Not, like, crushing a beer can on your head. Like, a train crushing a penny left on a track. This wasn’t a competition. It was an education.

Then comes the LaFerrari. It’s the vet. It’s the won with the winning background. But the Rimac comes in like Nick Cannon in Drumline and paradiddles all over the LaFerrari’s cute red paint. Once again, the Rimac comes out looking like Katie Ledecky. It’s seriously impressive. Check it out:
