The BBC’s hunt for a new Top Gear host team has almost turned into a novela, with its many highs, lows, rumors and even disappointments.

As if the death of Toyota’s Scion brand didn’t depress enough automotive enthusiasts this week, an early news release confirmed that former ‘Friends’ star and self-proclaimed petrol head, Matt LeBlanc will co-host in the new Top Gear series.

If the rumors are to be believed, Nürburgring goddess Sabine Schmitz will be one of the new cohosts of Top Gear alongside Chris Harris and Chris Evans.

The clip you’re about to watch shows what is technically a race. In it, two members of the Sunday Times Driving staff, Dominic Tobin and Joe Dunn, compete to see who can get from London to Cannes first. However, Tobin gets to blast his way from one country to the other in a Mercedes-AMG GT S.
