Take a Spin Around South Africa’s Kyalami Circuit with a Porsche Superstar
Once upon a time, the Circuit of Kyalami in sun-drenched South Africa played host to some of the most exciting, and even dramatic Formula One races of the eighties and nineties. Today the circuit and adjacent property is owned by Porsche, which further explains this video.
Hop on board the cabin of what’s perhaps the most track-capable Porsche ever made—the 911 GT3 RS, piloted by Porsche guru and endurance racing superstar, Jörg Bergmeister.
The track grounds were refurbished in 2014 when the German auto manufacturer acquired the circuit, and the entire length of the racing surface was redone and brought up to world-class standards. So far Porsche has held multiple road car testing sessions and even media programs for the upcoming Porsche 911.
At 19.5 million dollars, Porsche paid a ton less money than it would cost to build a brand new track from scratch. And by the looks of the video, they’re most definitely getting the most of it!
