The 2020 Porsche Taycan 4S is Available Now (and Beats its EPA Mileage by 40%)
Matt Farah drives the 2020 Porsche Taycan 4S from Los Angeles to Palm Springs and back on one charge.
We’ve been admiring it since it was announced in October. Drooling over it since the L.A. Auto Show in November. And reveling in its impressive mileage range since February. But, according to a recent Rennlist report, the 2020 Porsche Taycan 4S finally arrived in U.S. dealerships late last week, joining the standard Taycan and Taycan Turbo S variant.
A 93.4-kWh Performance Battery Plus powers the 4S’ dual motors, given the sports sedan up to 562 hp when using launch control and overboost. That’s good for 0-60 times in 3.8 seconds. And, thanks to a two-speed gearbox, you can hit a top track speed of 155mph. All of this in a car the EPA estimates as having a 203-mile range.
Which is odd because, if you watch the above video, Matt Farah proves the Taycan 4S can easily eke out 300 miles in a single charge while traveling against a headwind, hitting stop-n-go traffic, and running accessories like the air conditioning and cooled seats.
How to Buy Your Porsche Taycan 4S
With a starting price of $103,800 USD, the Taycan 4S is $80,000 cheaper than the Taycan Turbo S, but still ridiculously fast and well equipped. For a six-figure German sports sedan, I can’t believe I’m saying this, but it almost seems like a bargain.
Given the state of the world here in April 2020, Porsche created the Porsche at Your Service program to “assist customers with greater flexibility and convenience when it comes to online sales, vehicle collection and delivery as well as servicing.” In other words, depending on your local laws and regulations, you can buy and pick up your Taycan 4S in person or shop online and opt for contactless home delivery
