The Lamborghini LM002 Is Super Rare, but Now’s Your Chance to Buy One

1991 Lamborghini LM002 V12 Off Road SUV

With only 300 built, finding a Lamborghini “Rambo Lambo” LM002 for sale stateside isn’t an easy task. Now’s your chance. Don’t miss it!

The Lamborghini LM002 is a bit of a weird staple in the history of the iconic raging bull brand. Originally developed for military use, the LM002 is a full-blown off-road SUV with humvee-esque styling, four-wheel-drive, and plenty of ground clearance. It is still a Lamborghini, though. So, it also features the almighty Countach V12 and a five-speed manual transmission.

Lamborghini only made about 300 LM002 examples, so seeing one pop up on Bring A Trailer was a welcome surprise. Think about it. Virtually any car you could imagine has made multiple appearances on Bring A Trailer. This LM002, though, is only the second one ever to hit the iconic auction site. Furthermore, the last one was over three years ago.

Off-Road Like No Other. If You’ve Got the Wallet to Put in a Bid, That Is.

At the time of writing, the LM002 auction has 13 days remaining and has already achieved a bid of $225,000. So, while it’s not a “contemporary” Lamborghini sports car, it still carries a hefty price tag like its high-performance siblings. According to Hagerty, a 1991 example in good condition is worth around $302,000. It’s such a rare sale, though; we’ll likely see this one fetch a healthy bit more than that.

Let’s dig into what that price tag gets you. Aside from the off-road and rugged appearance, the LM002 sports a very Lamborghini-appropriate leather interior. This particular model has red upholstery, which also nicely aligns with the late ‘80s/early ‘90s Lamborghini tastes. Inside you’ll find a five-speed manual gear selector and a manual 4WD control knob for the transfer case. It’s quite a curious blend of Lamborghini and 1980s Chevy truck interior.

What is not at all similar to an ‘80s Chevy, though, is the 444 horsepower Countach V12 under the hood. As you can imagine, it’s not all that great on fuel. Fortunately, it has a 45-gallon fuel tank. Still, don’t expect to get very far, even when the tank is full.

Bid Now or Regret It Later!

The Lamborghini LM002 stayed pretty lowkey until more recent years. Just over a decade ago, LM002s were trading for less than $100,000. However, with more recent interest in the vehicles and a shining spotlight from YouTuber The Stradman, there’s a growing demand that the 300-ish supply will never keep up with.

More than likely, this is going to be a model that skyrockets in price in the coming years. Why not, right? It’s a weird piece of Lamborghini history. However, Lamborghini history is still Lamborghini history. Put those two words together, and you’ve got a pretty sound investment.

Though we can’t say exactly what to expect from this particular auction, we’ll definitely be watching. Don’t be shocked to see an eye-watering final bid.
