New 2024 Lamborghini Revuelto Is Enough To Make Doug DeMuro Swoon

Doug DeMuro thinks the new Lamborghini Revuelto is a triumphant evolution of the brand’s supercars.

Automotive journalist and presenter Doug DeMuro is no stranger to supercars and hypercars. In fact, the man behind the “Cars & Bids” sales and auction site has spent quite a bit of time in Lamborghini supercars, citing several variants of the now-discontinued Aventador. Understandably, DeMuro seemed excited to get behind the wheel of the latest Lambo “hybrid super performance car,” the 2024 Lamborghini Revuelto.

The Revuelto is the newest in a decades-long lineage of V12-powered Lamborghini supercar icons. Miura, Countach, Diablo, Murcielago, Aventador. The iconic Italian brand has built some of the most poster-worthy supercars of all time. And the Revuelto? It’s no different. The plug-in hybrid Lamborghini derives 815 horsepower courtesy of a 6.5L V12 paired with electric motors to produce 1,001 horsepower.

The result? It’s the most powerful Lamborghini ever produced. Oh, and the speed? How does 0 to 60 in 2.3 seconds on its way to nearly 220 mph sound? Furthermore, a dual-clutch transmission replaces the Aventador’s long-running single-clutch application. Happy days, indeed.

EV Power Mode

What’s more, DeMuro points out that you can drive the Revuelto on EV-only power. Yes. Yes, you can. Okay, so maybe it’s just four or so miles of electric-only range. But you’re not buying a Revuelto for its merits as a green machine, are you?

Beyond the performance figures, DeMuro calls the Lamborghini Revuelto’s interior a “quirk-fest.” He cites 26 buttons on the steering wheel and four dials. Busy, busy. Also, adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist in a V12 Lamborghini? DeMuro calls it a “brave new world.”

In addition to multiple driver modes, the Revuelto features active aero, including an adaptive rear wing. Additionally, the supercar boasts a facility called “BAR mode.” Not kidding. It’s a reference to slow rolling past a busy bar and impressing patrons with the rear wing. Seriously. Can’t make this stuff up.

Further, Audi passed a couple of hand-me-downs on to the Lamborghini. For instance, stalks and switchgear trickle down from the German automaker. However, that’s about where the similarities end. As silly as it sounds, Doug DeMuro calls the hybrid hypercar “surprisingly practical.” Storage is deceptively plentiful, from open spaces to collapsable cup holders, the Revuelto will accommodate quite a bit.  DeMuro points out that displays are plenty, from the configurable gauge cluster to a slim, passenger-side screen. However, one of the most whimsical features of the Revuelto is its apparent bullhead shape above its exposed engine compartment.

Revuelto Is a ‘Home Run’ for the Lamborghini

“It’s fast. The shifts are fast!” He points out that the shifts are much quicker than in the now-discontinued Aventador.  What’s more, Doug DeMuro applauds the driving position compared to previous models, even for his six-foot-four frame.

“This car is seriously fast! This is a much more precise, easy-to-move instrument.” He points out that you still get the hairy experience of supercar driving, but you benefit from the all-wheel drive (AWD) system and electrically-assisted instant throttle response.

And of course, DeMuro endows everything with a “DougScore.” As for Lamborghini’s quirky new bull, he awarded the supercar a 73 out of 100, putting it just ahead of the Ferrari 296 GTB and its sibling, the high-riding Huracán Sterrato. “It’s the best all-around exotic car on the market today.” However, its massive, $608,358 starting price tag is certainly a strike against it.
