This Ruf Tuned Volkswagen Beetle Is Unlike Any Bug You’ve Seen!
Nothing says awesome like a billet aluminum flower vase on a Ruf Beetle.
Ruf is credited with making some of the most iconic tuned 911’s in existence. Their magic touch stayed within the Stuttgart-based company. This concept was created as a sort of “inspiration concept,” meaning that Ruf never actually made it, but if they did ever breathe new life into a Beetle, this is the likely outcome of their work.
Taking the ethos of having clean, understated design changes, but backed up by huge performance, this “Ruf” Beetle features some unique new skin on the outside. Carried over styling from its usual rear-engine clientele is the front valance, with a large gaping lower grille. The back-end is finished off with some unique touches.
You won’t find Yellow Bird levels of performance with this Ruf, as the under-hood tuning is mild to say the least. Horsepower is rated at 225, but it is mounted to a traditional 6-speed transmission. Keeping the car planted is a fully revised suspension and enormous brakes which hide behind equally massive 19 inch rims.
Interior wise, things are spruced up quite nicely. Recaro sportster seats, sit in front, with the back half painted to match the car and aluminum trim contrasts nicely with the black leather. Ruf branded 6-speed stick shift matches the logo embossed steering wheel, while painted silver accents complete the interior.
So, OK, it’s not officially a Ruf built car, so this is the point where we get into price…
