Tuned McLaren on Track is the No-Frills Video You Need

By -

There’s little that’s more satisfying than watching a good driver take a fast car through its paces on a track.

We like YouTube. There is everything from Vloggers starting out to highly produced shows. There are also people who buy views and think they’re funnier than they are. Humor is a fine line to walk, and it’s often done poorly. Today, we don’t have to worry about all that. This is the no-frills track-day video you need. NM2255 is the man we have to thank, a thus-far silent Italian named Nick.

The car is a McLaren 720S with an exhaust and a Monza Garage Stage 1 ECU remap, according to the video. According to the description that’s good for 800 hp. And, that’s it. There’s no narrator, not host, and no comedians. The only thing you hear is the sweet sweet symphony of a twin-turbo British V8. Now, it started at 720 hp, so we’ll call this a healthy power bump, but not earth-shattering. What we do know is that it’s fast. Like, make your Porsche 911 look like a tourist on the Nurburgring fast.

So, enjoy. We sure did. Though we made a half-hearted effort to keep count, the McLaren passed more Porsches than we wanted to keep track of. The only thing that gives him trouble is a Ferrari right towards the end of the video. It’s not that the Ferrari is faster by any means either. The driver of the red (of course) Ferrari cuts into the inside of a turn, blocking the McLaren as he goes to pass. There’s a hand thrown in the air, then the 720S driver decides to take it easy for a cool down lap and call it a day. Good idea, since this is a track day and not a race.

Has anyone else been to a good track day recently?
