Two beards, one RSTi, massive front aero, and One Lap of America
If you are unfamiliar with One Lap of America, here is a quick breakdown of how it works. Basically, it’s a rally. Entrants leave the starting point and use public roads to gather at a designated event location, usually a race track. Teams compete for the best time in autocross, drag, and hot lap events. The cars have to be driven to each event using public roads. The teams are not allowed any support crews of any kind. The teams only get one set of tires to use throughout the competition. The One Lap events have been as large as 10000 miles, but more recently have been around 3000 miles. This year’s event will take competitors through fifteen states.
Owner/driver/builder Drew Rosek, of South Boardman Michigan, has transformed his mild mannered 130 horsepower, automatic, Subaru Impreza into a fire breathing, 6-speed, big turbo, big aero, monster. With the help of Pike Peak racer, fabricator extraordinaire, and horsepower conjurer, Cody Loveland and his mad scientists of speed at LoveFab in Traverse City Michigan. They are hoping for, a conservative, 370 horsepower at the wheels in a very light Impreza shell.
Drew’s navigator and co-driver is Relentless Rally Team owner/driver/mechanic, and fellow beard enthusiast Dylan Helferich of Williamsburg Michigan. Drew navigated for Dylan at this year’s Rally America Sno*Drift event where they took second in the Open Light class.
