Ferrari 458 Italia Blasts Along Bay Area Highways up to 174 mph
If you want to ride along on one of the most blatant exhibitions of speed ever caught on camera, the video below is your ticket, which is something the driver of the speeding Ferrari 458 Italia could have received, plus some time in a Contra Costa County or Marin County jail.
In the first part of the video you’ll see the Ferrari reach 164 mph while headed west on an east-west stretch of Interstate 580 through Richmond, CA during what appears to be weekend-morning traffic. If the scenery appears to be moving more slowly around the car than you’d expect at such an elevated velocity, don’t be fooled into thinking the car is programmed to display metric figures while saying “mph” on the speedometer. At 150 mph it takes only 12 seconds to cover half a mile. Calculating from the road signs between the Marina Bay Parkway and Harbour Way exits, the Ferrari covers a distance commensurate with the speedometer’s reading… It covers that distance quite effortlessly, I might add.
In the second part of the video, you’ll see the 458 Italia hit 174 mph as it is headed northeast through Novato, CA on Route 37, which is rather close to Sonoma Raceway — the location where this Ferrari should be hitting high speeds instead of endangering lives on public roads.
