Video of Porsche 918 Hybrid Set a Nurburgring Lap Record

I’m not sure I’d have ever imagined putting together a tagline that included the words “Nürburgring” and “hybrid”; let alone “lap record.” All you need to do is watch the video and you’ll be a true believer in the absurdity that is the Porsche 918 Spyder hybrid.

We’ve been covering it non-stop, but as of now, it’s probably one of my favorite production cars of all time.

Here we have an on board ride along with one of Porsche’s crack racing drivers as he proceeds to set a track record with the coveted 918 hybrid supercar.

Despite McLaren’s recent string of hints of the P1’s record breakthrough, we’ve yet to see the official results.

Sit back and enjoy the heart-stopping video. It’s the the best glimpses we’ve had of just how terrifyingly fast the Porsche 918 can be, with its earth shattering 887 hp/940 lb-tq powerplant(s). Pay close attention at 4:32 when the pedal goes down on a long stretch and the trees start zipping by like  the 918’s gone into hyperdrive. Can’t wait to see McLaren release their P1 video!
