The Viper is Back!
After a long hiatus, a slump in sales, and a drastic reduction in price, Chrysler is once again reportedly resuming Viper production. The Viper hasn’t had a good sales cycle since the new car launched last year.
Chrysler has had to idle Viper production more times than one can count, and took a massive blow when the company had to lay off a few dozen staff from the car’s assembly line.
However, a bright spot has appeared with the iconic nameplate when Chrysler announced that the Viper’s starting price would decrease by $15,000 at the beginning of last month.
Not only did this make a better argument for selling the Viper, but also it made such a good argument to buyers that the company blew through a sales record for the car.
The last production halt started in July and has since lingered on to see how well buyers would welcome the price decrease. Now that Vipers are moving off the showroom floor and inventories are beginning to dwindle, Chrysler can once again begin production of the famous snake.
While inventories are still above where the company wants them to be, production will likely resume mid-November. However, with winter coming, sports car sales tend to decline meaning Chrysler may institute another production halt.
