Watch a Hayabusa Smoke a Ferrari 458 Italia
When you own a Ferrari, you really don’t expect to get smoked by anybody. The thing is, when you are racing a supercar versus a superbike, you really are outgunned unless you’re in an Ariel Atom. Even so, they’re really fun to watch.
The publisher of the says that the Hayabusa turbo is making 298 horsepower to the rear wheels. That makes the power-to-weight ratio insane. Even a smaller bike would be able to beat the Fezza in a straight line.
The 298 horsepower that that Hayabusa is claimed to make is significantly more than the original horsepower of the original bike, but even at that it’s highly doubtful that the Ferrari would’ve had a chance.
Now that the 488 GTB, with turbo power, is about to hit the scene, we’ll probably see more videos like this comparing the new car to some of the fastest bikes on Earth. Will the results be any different? We’re just going to have to wait and see!
On a side note, it sure is nice to hear the wail of that naturally-aspirated Ferrari V8. I’m always glad to hear it, and sad to see it going away in favor of the turbocharging applications, even if that makes more sense for power and emissions.
