Webber & Vettel: A Brief Look Back at Red Bull’s Odd Couple

Vettel-Webber
This is hardly the first time that Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel have had a run in on track. Let’s look back at their super swell relationship.

In 2007, Webber was leading a rain soaked Japanese Grand Prix for Red Bull. Newly signed wonderkid Sebastian Vettel was driving for the Red Bull Junior team, Toro Rosso, and showed his lack of experience and hit his soon to be teammate Webber while the race was being lead around track by the safety car.

Webber certainly wasn’t pleased.

Next, was  the infamous race in Turkey. The first incident of 2010 came in Istanbul. Red Bull had a very good car and very competitive drivers.  The incident between the two is one of the decade’s best.

The dust up was a PR nightmare. Many awkward explanations came soon after mainly placing the blame upon Webber. It was from this point onward that journalists and fans saw Red Bull as Vettel’s team.

Finally, the historically close 2010 season the British Grand prix produced one of the best Webber and Vettel  on track moments.  Red Bull had brought with new front wing them to Silverstone. Both drivers received the wing, but when Vettel crashed in free practice, the team took Webber’s new wing off his car and put it on Vettel’s. Webber qualified second behind Vettel and wasn’t pleased at all.

Webber came back and one the race. Not bad for a number two driver.

The latest incident certainly won’t be the last for Formula 1’s favorite odd couple. I think we are all looking forward to it.
