What Better Car Is There for a Driving Test Than a Lamborghini Revuelto with 1,001 HP?

Top Gear took on a driving test in the Lamborghini Revuelto, the most powerful production Lamborghini ever.

Since its inception, Top Gear has been pushing the limit with everything from swivel-eyed track antics to silly road trips and off-road challenges. It’s exactly the sort of climate that prompts creative types to dream up the most hilarious, questionably legal scenarios possible. In one of their latest whimsical undertakings, Top Gear took on a UK driving test in a 1,001-horsepower Lamborghini Revuelto, the most powerful production Lambo ever.

In the UK, the “L” placard is a dreaded thing. It’s a massive billboard advertising your novice driving status prior to earning your full license. So, to escape the legal requirement of L plates, you’ll have to pass a driving test. So naturally, you grab the keys to a Lamborghini Revuelto, make sure it passes the technical requirements for testing, and go pass that test, right?

As silly as it sounds, Top Gear’s Head of Car Testing (I know, there’s a sweet gig), Ollie Marriage, decided to pit the hybrid hypercar against a UK driving test. After crushing an eye test and proving he could check engine oil levels, Marriage, and his driving instructor, were off in the low, wide, razor-sharp Lamborghini.

Hardly the Right Choice for a Driving Test

For a test that favors small, economical rides like your ubiquitous FIAT Panda, the enormous Revuelto is a bit, well, out of place in Speke. As Ollie Marriage points out, students have their hands full with the Liverpool suburb’s tight streets, frequent intersections, complicated road markings, and dense traffic.

Humorously, Marriage recommends that testers pack up and head out to Montrose in Scotland. Sure, it’s over 300 miles away. But it also has one of the highest pass rates in the country. Needless to say, as soon as the student and instructor started to relax, the Revuelto shook the passengers awake with jarring trips over speed bumps.

Still, even with the spectacle of watching a bright orange Lamborghini Revuelto patiently putt around at city speeds, the cutting-edge hypercar simply isn’t meant for driving tests. Check out the full video below!
