What if Audi’s New RS7 was a Rally Car?
Obviously, Audi’s new RS7 isn’t a rally racer. The car is better suited to the narrow driveways of the Hollywood hills than the gravelly stages of New Zealand. That doesn’t mean it wouldn’t be a good fit though. Well, with some work of course.
Power wouldn’t be a problem. The twin turbo 550hp V8 would take care of that. That’s more than enough horses to pull the big coupe through the mud. It’s heavy, but a rally version would be stripped of all that weighty, luxury crap. At it’s core, the body is still a mix of aluminum and high strength steel. You can’t forget about Quattro AWD either. Even with all that weight, I’m sure a race prepped RS7 could Scandivian flick with the best of them.
… Well, maybe not the best of them. It would probably pale against it’s distant ancestor: The Group B Quattro S1. Still, I’ve got admit that it looks good in the HB International racing livery. Artist Frederic Louis illustrated what the new Audi would look like in those classic colors. Given that old racing colors on new cars are all the rage, I don’t think it would be too out there to see it on the street.
