Live Out Your Wildest Racing Dreams in Restored 1990 Porsche 962C
Offered at auction, this Porsche has notably raced twice at 24 Hours of Le Mans.
It is safe to say that if you are anything like us, you have dreamed about driving a true, honest-to-God race car. Commanding the driving line in a Porsche racer is especially appealing. When we spied this 1990 Porsche 962C, we knew it is a rare opportunity for one lucky person to own a racer that has earned its stripes.
The car has participated in 24 Hours of Le Mans twice, and finished 13th overall in 1990. Since its days tearing up the track, it has been been lovingly restored, and is still ready to ride.
It is going up on the auction block at RM Sotheby’s upcoming London 2019 auction on October 24. Offered from the Autobau Collection, Porsche has proven itself one of the most exemplary competition and endurance racers.
It retains the 1991 Le Mans ‘high downforce’ configuration, and continues to an eligible entry for Historic Group C racing events. In 2009, the car underwent a $300,000 restoration by former IMSA racer and restoration expert Bruce Canepa of Canepa Design. He made sure that the car met his very high standards.
In keeping with Porsche’s standards, the 3.0 liter Porsche Type 935 twin-turbocharged Flat Six is certain to make the earth move.
We love that the livery has been nicely restored to its 1991 days. The restoration included a rebuild of the engine, gearbox, brakes, and turbos. Additionally, Canepa added new brake, fuel, and oil lines.
This car couldn’t look any sleeker. Engineered to perform, it truly is rocking a cherry body and an engine and powertrain ready to be unleashed.
If you are in the market for a stunning Porsche 962 ready to ride again, this definitely fits the bill.
