Will This Be the First Indian Supercar?

As we start to bleed into Auto Show season, more and more supercar manufacturers are coming out of the woodwork. Like ghostly ants, these small companies aim to take on the likes of Ferrari and Lamborghini and joining the illustrious pantheon of small supercar builders that actually make it through their first year. Mean Metal Motors aims to be one of those companies.

First thought though, the company desperately needs to change its name. Mean Metal Motors sounds like a custom shop that builds Model As for like $20. It just doesn’t exactly inspire supercar confidence. Mean Metal Motors is the brain child of Sarthak Paul, who wants the car company to produce the first ever Indian supercar.

The car the company plans on build is called the M-Zero, and supposedly will use a mid-engine hybrid-electric Powertrain to produce a 200 mile per hour supercar with a price tag of around $150,000. Interestingly, Paul wants to build the car out of a new material he calls carbo-flax, which is lighter and less expensive than traditional carbon fiber. What carbo-flax is, we really don’t know.

While the M-Zero is likely vaporware, the idea of an Indian supercar is interesting. So much technology is produced and maintained in India, why not build something that also goes fast?
