There has been no shortage of horsepower for enthusiasts this year. In fact, 2019 has seen some amazing achievements in the world of automobiles. We’ve picked out a few of our favorite happenings from throughout the year. And we hope you’ll look back on this year as the best one yet. If this year was any indication for the future, 2020 will surely be filled with horsepower and broken lap records.

2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody Quick Drive Review

2019 year review 6Speed Online

In the spring of 2019, we got our hands on the SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody. With this car, it seemed to have one main purpose in life. Big smokey burnouts. That’s okay because most inner 16-year-olds dream of having just under 800 horsepower on tap. Gas mileage? Your results will vary depending on the size of the smile plastered on your face. That’s not why you buy one of these.

Paraplegic BMW M3 Racer is Amazingly Fast

2019 year review 6Speed Online

Passion and creative thinking can help make the most of any situation. BMW M cars also help a little. We discovered this paraplegic driver hustling a BMW M3 around Buttonwillow raceway using hand controls. The best part is, his hand controls don’t slow him down at all!

Matt Farah Drives the Only Manual Ferrari 430 Scuderia in the World

2019 year review 6Speed Online

There’s something about snicking your own gears that is so satisfying. It’s a tough thing to describe, but the involvement factor in any car is increased. Some cars were never given a proper transmission, such as the Ferrari 430. But leave it to one mastermind to throw a 6-speed gearbox in one and make the incredible 430 even better.

Is Daily Driving an Exotic Car Worth the Hassles That Come With It?

2019 year review 6Speed Online

With companies like Turo offering fun and exciting alternatives to a hum-drum rental car, the business of renting exotics has exploded. But what if you drove one daily instead of renting one? Well, it’s no surprise that you better have a lot of cash laying around for even the most simple of maintenance items.

Ford v Ferrari-inspired Exhibit Opens at L.A.’s Petersen Auto Museum

2019 year review 6Speed Online

Gearheads of all sorts were treated to a great cinema experience this year with the epic film Ford v Ferrari. Hollywood’s take on the epic Le Mans battle between Ford’s GT40 and Ferrari’s all-conquering might was wonderfully entertaining, and followed the infamous Carrol Shelby and driver Ken Miles as they battled the Italians on track. Petersen Auto Museum has an exhibit with cars that are related to that era of racing.

The Light Car Company ‘Rocket’ is a Car We Don’t Deserve

2019 year review 6Speed Online

Lightness correlates to speed, and the Rocket from Light Car Company certainly lives up to both the name of the car and the name of the company. Weighing in at a scant 850 lbs, the rocket is barely heavier than your standard go-kart. But your standard go-kart also doesn’t have a 1000cc Yamaha motorcycle engine pumping out 140 horsepower.

2019 year review 6Speed Online

The year ended with a wave goodbye to the 991 Porsche 911. The final 991 one is fittingly a Speedster model. It’ll head to the U.S., and will complete the run of the most popular generation of 911 ever made. Total production run? 233,540. We’ll miss you, friend.
