GT35R's or GT30R's for highway pulling??
Hi guys
We intend to go with bigger turbos on 997 GT2...I decide to post here coz ppl here has more experience on those Gerrett turbos.
So which one is better for highway pulling and still good and reliable for daily use...I'm talking about rolling 60 up to 190mph.
Many ppl said that the GT35R's is laggy on mid range but it pulls harder on top end..I also remember Scott said that he didn't noticed that lag and his 60-130 become quicker going from GT30R's to GT35R's.
Until now the only 2 verified cars r David Switzer GT35R's 997tt ran 60-130 4.86 and Keith Protomotive GT30R's 997tt ran 5.42
We have lighter car and it is RWD
What do u think gents??
Thanks in advance

Remember, those are 60-130 times.
Over 130mph, it's a whole new world because of aerodynamic drag.
I'd say the turbo with the greatest hp potential would pull the hardest up to 190mph, so that would probably go to the GT35R because of overall airflow potential.
Maybe Scott will chime in.
I'd say he has a good grasp on something like this.

cor you took the words right outa my mouth ... he also has one step bigger compressor wheel that would be ideal for big hyw pulls

There are some nice newer billet turbo options that fall right between the 3076 and 35r...
Look into the PT6062 or 6262 and of course as TopGun said, the Alpha 3076's with the billet compressor wheels would be a good choice.

I have PT5857s being installed right now and it's suppose to be right in between a 30r and a 35r, but spool like a 30r. I'll make sure there are dyno numbers up when we get it all together. I'm hoping to make 700rwhp on 19-21psi if not more than that.

I know Todd K saw 70whp more with 76R's over 71R's

The Z06's you mentioned should be making a lot more hp than 650. Bikes are completely dependent on the rider and the starting speed of the roll.

The stock block 996 (not to familiar w/ the 997 but the same is probably true) Does not produce enough RPMs to full utilize a GT35 nor will the bottom end handle the power.
Thus to benefit from a 35 you have to do a major engine build (bottom end, cams etc.).

Sean, this is incorrect. There a number of stock bottom end GT35 996/997's making over 800whp with no issues. I'm not saying they could withstand years of abuse, too early to say, but some of so called "built" engines have taken a **** too....
