Aftermarket Pioneer Nav unit in my 2007 997.1

Hi all,

Just had a Pioneer Avic Z110Bt installed in my 2007 997 Coupe (with Bose).

What they did was just bypass the Bose main amp and ran the stock Bose speakers through the Pioneer amp. With the sub, they ran line level out of the Pioneer into the Bose sub amp (so I have control over that amp separately).

No fancy rewiring, no resistors needed, no $650.00 fiber optic interface piece.

And, the piece de resistance is....It sounds better than with the Bose amp through the PCM 2.1. I mean, MUCH better!

Anyways, pictures to follow at some point. I'm working out a minor bezel issue with Eurospeed. They are sending me a new bezel this week, hopefully and then I will shoot pictures of the install (when its perfect).

Oh, btw, I now have complete Nav, bluetooth, ipod and XM for a little over$2,000.00 completely installed. And, that's with touchscreen. Also, was able to get a great jpg of the Porsche crest logo for my splash screen. Very cool! The 7" screen just blows away the PCM 2.1 screen by a long shot.

Steve

PS: I want to give a very special shout out to Loi at Euromotorspeed. He went out of his way to give me great customer service. Please give him business! (the bezel and Bose wiring harness came from him).

Full black leather interior

Your welcome!

They are NOT tamper proof at all. You just need to find a company with experience taking apart and re-wiring these cars. The company I used was recommended by my local Porsche dealer. When I went to scout their shop, they had 3 other Carrera's that they were working on. Some quite extensively. Mine was a relatively simple job compared to what I saw there.

The best part is...They didn't cut one wire. I can reinstall the PCM 2.1 and have it back to 100% stock. Not really sure why I would do this, but I do have that option.

Steve

Is this the kit you bought? http://cgi.ebay.com/PORSCHE-997-CARR...item33590fa761

Your kit seems to stick out quite a bit at the top compared to their pictures but perhaps that is why you are waiting for a new one?

I'm asking because I'm considering to buy the same kit but I'm very picky when it comes to things like fit and finish, and I could not live with a bezel that looks like it really doesn't fit 100%

It's the mic for the bluetooth and voice recognition... Works well there.

Don't buy it or even change a thing. If you are that picky, you will never be happy with anything aftermarket...

It's as close as it will ever look to being stock. I mean, Loi nailed it! If you don't think that's good enough, don't waste your time, effort or $$$

good luck with whatever you decide

Looks like a photo illusion just on the left side, but if you look at other clues in the photo, I don't think it could really be that way; seems to line up along the bottom and top fine - and the ebay pic looks OK.

Nice work I'd say, and great to see that a relatively simple upgrade can refresh the car.

Good for you!

Looks good, and seems like a much better alternative than that Reus scam.
