Newbie question...but what exactly is RUF?
Are they an aftermarket company like AMG is to MB? Do they do both bodykits and tuning to Porsches? And what does it stand for?

Instead of breaking the guys #^@& lol why dont we educate him
Kind Sir....
Here is the quick history lesson on RUF-
Originally a bus manufacturer in Germany- Turned to tuning Porsche cars-
Builder of the Yellow Bird- Narrow Body 911 carrera from the late 80's= 210+MPH or so.. This was the baddest car in its day- Road and Track tested this car against a bunch of SuperCars of the day and Supertuner cars at Nardo and the Yellow Bird - ***** slapped everyone..
Fast forward- Ruf is granted German certification to build cars and sell them as a RUF- Basically Ruf acquires chassis with basic components and builds the cars from there- Some use to say that RUF was the RollsRoyce of Porsche tuners- They built the fastest cars- And with the factory's blessing..
In the late 80's there were a ton of fake ruf cars imported into the USA. under the loop hole in the importation laws-
They were nothing more than rebadged turbo's carrera's etc.
Today- RUF cars are highly sought after and are considered as the best...
To compare-
Ruf to Porsche what AMG is to mercedes although AMG is considered a manufacturer in germany AMG cars are still sold as Mercedes products
Alpina would be the best comparison to Ruf- When alpina builds a car you get a Alpina and not a BMW..
Thats the real short version of the story....
Gentleman- Carry on with the *(#^@*&@ ball breaking....
Im sure I missed some important info- but thats a quick run down.
Cheers...
