Help with my 2007 Bentley Continental GT

I took my 2007 Bentley Continental gt that I just purchased about a month ago to a specialized Bentley Mechanic shop today in Houston TX and they said they performed something called a smoke test on it because I had complained about the humming and hissing sound that I suspected was from the vacuum line. Anyways they are now telling me it would cost me $13700 to do the job because it’s an Engine and transmission out job. And I just purchased the car less than a month ago. They also said that it’s the reason why the check Engine light is on and until it’s fixed the light would stay on. Any help or suggestions PLEASE?

Get a 2nd opinion?

Any chance to get some goodwill from whom you bought the car? This could have been an existing problem although I would have to believe a thorough road test of the car would have uncovered this so it might have just happened.

If the diagnosis is right and if it is also right the engine/transmission has to come out (probably true as modern cars especially high performance/luxury cars have very tight packaging/packing of all the hardware and getting to and replacing hoses/vacuum lines, fittings, etc., can require the engine be removed) and if there's no goodwill forthcoming looks like you are facing a rather large expense with your Bentley.

You have my sincerest sympathy.
