My 1987 Porsche Carrera Targa
Hello all.
Today I bought a 1987 Porsche Carrera Targa. I've always loved the air-cooled 3.2 engines and the red with tan leather interior is my favorite combo. Only dealer pics at the moment -- I'll snap pics of her late next week when she arrives.

I paid $22,300. Yes, it's a very well maintained and cared for car. There were plenty of '87s to choose from but this one had everything on my must-have list as well as my nice-to-have list, along with the right price.
I haven't seen her yet because the darn truck broke down along the way. I think she'll be here tomorrow.

I had my Targa delivered to my dealer, where they will peform the $60K mile service .
I stopped by to see her and take a spin for the first time today. The first thing I noticed was the she's a cranberry color, not guards red. Turns out this color really sets the car off well and so I'm pleasantly surprised by that. It's officially called Carmine Red.
The driving experience was wonderful. Had the Targa top off and the 3.2 engine w/ stock exhaust was superb. Also the smell of that air-cooled engine along with a subtle (but normal) oil-like smell was intoxicating.
I'll probably pick her up next week -- since a lot of work as part of a 60K mile service had already been performed, I'm hoping for no big surprises. Surely things will crop up though. In fact, the electric windows went down just fine, but when I put the Targa top back on and tried to close the windows -- nadda. Perhaps just a fuse.
Anyhow, here are some pics:

Welcome to the 3.2 club! It's nice to finally see her in the pics. Mine is at the independent doing a complete brake job - rotors, pads, fluid change, cluth bleeding and perhaps caliper rebuilds if needed. When I had my Targa, I tried to drive with the top off as much as possible. Take it on some country roads! Enjoy!

I just took my Targa home yesterday. The needed repairs are not done, but they do not compromise safety for me or for the car. Parts were on order, so I have the car for a couple of weeks to enjoy (at long last).
Some initial impressions:
* The aroma from the engine is divine. It's sort of an oily, metalic smell that really connects you to the machine.
* The engine note is classic 911. This is an obvious statement, but owning so many of the liquid cooled engines I've so missed the purr and rumble of the air cooled days.
* No power steering further connects me to the car. I feel every aspect of the road throughout my hands, arms and sholders. Just perfect.
When the weather improves, I'll try to shoot a vid or two.
