Evil Machine wants to know about the '84 model yr of the Carrera 3.2 not the 944. Have it checked thoroughly by an independant Porsche air cooled mechanic. The model yr itself is fine but you could land up with costly repairs if the car is not in good shape. Have the mechanic check for rust, condition of the transmission (915 gearbox) and engine (icnluding compression and leakdown) as these are the big ticket items. Good luck.

Sounds like it might be too late for a Pre Purchase Inspection, but it's never too late for a Post Purchase Inspection. Like woot said, have some indy shop check out the important stuff. 84s were pretty good cars, first year of the "carrera" an improvement over the 78-83 SC's.

Oops sorry ROb. I thought the OP was contemplating on the purchase. Huh ! Evilmachine, I hope you had it PPI'd prior to the purchase. If not then I sure hope you paid market price.

The car has been fully restored and is in as good condition as you can get for a twenty seven year old car. I didn't even have to do the brakes for safety. I m just concerned about major problems they all have.

Just saw the 4 pics. A 80's Carrera in it's iconic form (targa) bathed in the archetypal color wearing the factory Fuch's wheels and whale tail/tea tray spoiler..... what more could you ask for. Enjoy the bauty safely in good health.
