Mixing Oil?

Took out the 85 Carrera this morning and just happened to check the oil. Low oil-below the lowest mark on the dipstick. I ran out of 20/50 oil and had to put a quart of synthetic oil to get me going. Any problems with this? Do you guys expect to lose much oil by just sitting in the garage for weeks at a time without running? Thanks

Not as big a problem as if you run with low oil. Watch your oil level in the future. Do you have a puddle of oil under your car as it sits in the garage?

No puddle, no smoke. How long do you have to wait to check the oil after you start the car

Let the car warm to full operating temp, THEN check the oil using dipstick. Until car is at full temp it will read as low. Maybe you read it when cold and thought it was low?

Thanks so much for the tip. I have been checking the oil upon start up and not at full operational temp.

kamil is infamous around these parts
also remember, oil expands when hot, so never fill your oil as full as it states, especially on the older 911's. I regularly short my 83' a little because no one likes overflow.
