Need professional help - Purchase coming

Okay, First off I don't need the sarcastic or wise-crack comments. I need help from people who have the right to give advice, so if you are not a subject expert, please move on. I am sure i'm not looking for anything truly unique BUT the porsche owners are always a reat resource of knowledge and I am near Ocala, FL and limited to seeing may or driving many in person before buying.

I have owned multiple Porsches from 1985 C2, 2003 Turbo and C2, 2014 Panamera, 2009 Cayenne Turbo S and a few various others. I am not looking to buy something older BUT something newer, i'll explain. I really love the RWB (Raul-Welt) Porsche designs as they have a classic look but built with more modern amenities. I love wide-body C4S's from the 80's, 90's as well as newer. I want to buy or build something but my budget is going to limit me. I am not looking for a SEMA show car here, I'm looking for a weekend driver, not a rust-bucket project, but something I can get into for about 60k give or take a little total. Yes, I know the car below is a 6+ figure car - I'm not out for glory here, but I'm looking to create a "drivers version" without breaking the bank and i'm not sure what platform I should be considering. (Picture just for example)

Pictures are for example of what I think is sexy and would love owning. I am not a mechanic, i am not able to do body work myself. I'd like to buy a solid car that needs performance upgrades, perhaps interior changes but overall the car doesn't need a ton of rust / paint correcting, etc.

The wish list:
  • Wide-body, doesn't have to be factory
  • Miles are irrelevant
  • Year is irrelevant overall (70's, 80's, or 90's)
  • I want something that has a minimum of 300hp or very close to it with tasteful and not crazy-expensive mods
  • I'm okay with a solid roof or targa and I suppose even a convt if it was all I found but I prefer the coupe
  • Must be manual trans
Finally, here is a shining example of what I'd like to own but with a slightly wider stance:

I would say you are in the 911sc range at 60k and then you can work from there to make the car yours over time. 964 and 993's are out of the question for a manual trans. I get the feeling you don't want to wade into the water-cooled cars but the 996's are in your budget and will give you plenty of money to make it yours. They carry risks with the engines so make sure it has had the RMS/IMS done or expect 5k to do it and the clutch. Turbos don't have those problems and are a blast to drive but start at 60k for a Tip or a higher milage 6peed. I would not worry about the higher miles on the turbo as long as it's been maintained.

@90sundevil I had a 996 Turbo but it was a tiptronic, so I sold it awhile ago. I currently have an 03 C2 996 Convertible now, and if it wasn't a convertible, i'd use that... but I really love the look of the older cars instead. Its amazing what some people are asking for them now that the market has been on fire. I paid $9k for my C2 and I paid $26k for the Turbo. Crazy that you can barely find anything under $40k now that isnt junk.

I would go with a 78-83 911sc and work from there. I find it crazy that a 996 turbo Tip is going in the 60's, there is a beautiful one in the LA area and if it was not a tip I would have bought it already.

@90sundevil I found a 2004 Turbo 996 Manual Convt for $40k. 90k miles, but its another convertible and for this I really want a coupe. I am open to responses if anyone knows of any mid-80's 911 SC's, i just havent found anything decent yet. Right now Im considering a frankenstein Porsche, a 1979 interior and chassis with a 98 993 steel coupe body. Seems to work for me overall, but its just not "collector" status with the mismatched components.

993's look fantastic, 4S's are the best.

It's crazy overall how the unloved Porsche's are now the sought after ones. The 964 was such a cheap 911 and now they are all sky-rocketing. The 993 is unattainable and even my 996 has tripled in value. WTF is going on? I think the older and more money folks have, the more they want to relive their youth or something, lol. These cars were always under 20-30k, now you cant find one under 50k. I seriously doubt i'll keep looking and hoping, the Porsche community can have them at this point. I dont see the value for it anymore. Singer and Guntherwerks have made the older ones cool again. I'm waiting for the 914's to be worth 100k like all the rest of them. makes no sense, but I think i'd rather a newer C4S or Turbo anyways. half the price now!

Car prices have been unreal lately.
